Why is this role important?
The Program Specialist will work in a matrix environment and play a key role as the subject matter expert (SME) in developing resources for the client-facing experience in implementation of the new pan-Canadian organ donation and transplantation (ODT) data and performance reporting system project.
This includes the development of manuals, reference documents, and implementation toolkits aimed at supporting jurisdictions, organ donation organization (ODOs) and transplant / living donation programs as they prepare to submit data to CIHI’s Canadian ODT Data System (CanODT).
The Program Specialist is responsible for providing high quality and timely support to a wide range of stakeholders and will integrate health system, clinical and technical, and capacity building knowledge in support of this new implementation of CIHI ODT data and submission standards.
What you'll do
1.Plans, develops, maintains and delivers a comprehensive range of products and services including education and training sessions, in person or via live / recorded web conferences, client support material for data tools, client reference manuals, implementation toolkits, as well as develops job aids and bulletins.
2.Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with external ODT stakeholders including provincial / territorial ministries of health, health policy organizations, data users, and other key stakeholder groups to ensure the ongoing relevance and quality of CIHI’s products and services.
Provides strategic advice and expertise for client implementation and supporting documentation in alignment with stakeholder priorities and CIHI data standards.
3.Liaises with CIHI’s Client Affair Managers, Legal Services team and PT representatives to ensure data flow to CanODT through the review and amendments to Data Sharing Agreements and bilateral agreements.
4.Plans and develops material for internal engagement activities including Small Talks, Awareness Campaigns, CIHighway articles.
5.Develops, tracks and monitors a jurisdictional implementation dashboard to the CanODT.
6.Conducts environmental scans and stakeholder consultations to develop and support capacity building activities to enhance the use of ODT data for stakeholders.
7.Contributes to updates, reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders relevant to client implementation.
Participates in departmental and team meetings, including chairing, presenting and minute taking.
8.Supports and contributes to other relevant project activities, client support, and training delivery, as required.
What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in a heath science discipline, health administration, or other related discipline.
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant health system work experience with a particular emphasis on data management and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong collaboration, teamwork, and ability to work in a matrix environment.
- Strong writing skills and experience in drafting education materials, briefing notes, communications, and promotional materials.
- Subject matter expertise or experience supporting data initiatives and change management in a health care setting considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of Canada’s health care system with knowledge about organ donation and transplantation considered a strong asset.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to effectively deliver presentations and educational training.
- Highly organized with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
- Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
