Purpose :
We are currently looking for a Senior Project HSE Manager to join our team in Markham, Ontario. You will liaise with office and project management as the HSE focal point for all aspects of EPCM and EPC project delivery.
Implements the corporate Health, Safety and Environment programs for the Canada East area. Develops a thorough working knowledge of the Health, Safety and Environment functions, corporate policy and procedures, and practices.
Helps prepare reports and studies of a technical nature. This position is based in the office 4 days per week with occasional travel to Worley offices and project sites within Eastern Canada.
Responsibilities :
- Leads, coaches, and mentors a team of HSE Advisors. Builds, motivates, develops, and manages an effective team.
- Effectively manages and resolves conflict between individuals and / or groups.
- Shares experience in the practical application of applicable regulatory procedures / requirements and standards.
- Monitors daily work practices utilized by Worley, contractors, and subcontractors. Confers with project safety managers HSE matters requiring conformance with Company, client, and governmental requirements.
Reviews these practices and recommends corrective actions.
- Stops work in imminent danger situations or conditions having imminent adverse environmental impact. Recommends to supervisor that Notices of Non-Compliance be issued, follows up to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Assists, as assigned, in accident investigations, regulatory compliance audits, project health surveys, and insurance audits. Reviews reports.
- Researches, prepares, and assists in conducting environmental, safety, health, and fire orientation / training programs for manual / non- manual personnel.
- Prepares project environmental, safety, health, and fire reports as required by the HSE Core Processes.
- Hosts and attends meetings to communicate HSE initiatives / issues.
- Promote and monitor adherence to company, client, and legislative requirements.
- Establish direct working relationships and rapport with all levels within the organization.
- Occasional travel within Eastern Canada.
What you will bring :
Technical and Industry Experience :
Senior level experience in a similar HSE role including experience leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of HSE Advisors.
Must be able to build, motivate, develop, and manage an effective team. Able to effectively manage and resolve conflict between individuals and / or groups.
- Must have the experience and ability to perform technical safety and health tasks, sampling, worker monitoring activities, and environmental compliance monitoring with limited supervision.
- Strong knowledge of HSE functions and HSE Core Processes.
- Experience in safety engineering, health physics, industrial hygiene, or environmental compliance activities.
- Knowledge of governmental HSE standards, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Must have experience with EPCM and EPC project delivery.
- Excellent management skills including the ability to plan, set goals; and manage time, priorities, resources, accountabilities, schedule, and costs
- Encourages others to share the spotlight, visibly celebrates and supports team.
- Available for occasional travel to Worley offices and project sites within Eastern Canada.
Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training :
Required :
- Degree in Health, Safety and Environment Management or related Science / Engineering area preferred.
- Relevant professional designation Preferred.
