Reporting to the Project Controls Lead, the Cost Controller will manage the cost control system for the project scope, which includes budget preparation, forecasting expenditures, and tracking and reporting costs to the project team with upmost accuracy.
This role is based out of Port Hope, ON
What You Will Be Working On :
Budget management :
Coordinate the budget development at each phase of the project as per current standards and guidelines.
Create meaningful, timely, cost estimates in the event of project changes and scope.
Monitoring and updating cost estimates for projects to ensure that costs are within expected ranges.
Develop the cash flow and report actual vs. planned expenditures as per the established schedule (monthly, weekly, and daily during project execution).
Assess all aspects of project costs across the life of the project, including actual, committed, and forecasted costs.
Create and manage work orders and purchase orders for project overheads.
Effective management of invoices and timesheets to allow accurate forecasting.
Manage a transparent process of allocation of appropriate project costs to capital projects, as per existing guidelines.
Act as a resource for time entry questions and provide guidance to the cost control support role.
Provide overall cost coordination for the project and contractor personnel to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all labour costs.
Perform all above on project costs and prices.
Provide input to various project reporting requirements
Work with various cost management applications in conjunction with MS office applications to sufficiently support all project stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For :
Certified cost professional through AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) or working towards certification, or supporting diploma or degree, or combination of educations and related experience is an asset
post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma in a related field, and / or relevant combination of experience.
5+ years of experience in a similar role
Exceptional forecasting abilities
Expertise in Project Management Systems in general while project specific application trainings will be provided
Advanced knowledge of Excel and working knowledge of other MS Office software
Understanding of project management
Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work a rotational schedule of 14 and 7, in a camp-based environment
