What is the Opportunity? In the increasingly complex world of financial services, accurate and complete data is critical for risk management and regulatory compliance.
Ensuring data integrity begins with an understanding of financial services data. As a Senior Analyst, Data Sourcing, you will be accountable for ensuring that Systems of Records (SORs) and Authorized Provisioning Points (APPs) are identified, declared, promoted, and utilized, in order to be in compliance with the RBC Enterprise Data Management and Reporting Policy / Standards.
This will also drive improvements in making data more accessible, usable, and promote a culture of data sharing through the organization.
Reporting to the Associate Director, you will identify and maintain new / existing SOR / APPs in the Enterprise tool, Collibra, and steer the entire process through to declaration for domains across the organization, including, but not limited to, Credit Risk, Market Risk, US IHC, and CNB. What will you do?
- Provide an end-to-end service for fully managed domains by facilitating the identification, declaration, recording, and maintenance of SORs / APPs across the enterprise.
- Act as advisors to self-managed domains by providing initial onboarding support to enable domains in performing the end-to-end process.
- Provide ongoing support to facilitate self-managed domains in declaring and maintaining SORs / APPs.
- Assist in resolving any disputes regarding SORs / APPs by referring to the Data Sourcing Committee, as needed.
- Develop standardized and ad-hoc reporting to communicate progress, trends, and insights to business partners and management.
- Analyze lineage and control documentation for critical data elements to assist in investigating SORs / APPs.
- Coordinate the monthly Data Sourcing Committee and act as delegate to the co-chair as needed.
- Regularly present material and findings to management and stakeholders.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of RBC’s tools and systems.
- Use Collibra to log, record, and maintain SORs / APPs for critical data elements.
- Propose process changes / improvement to address identified gaps or inconsistencies in data, processes and / or controls.
- Collaborate closely, and maintain working relationships, with the SDMO Lineage team, SDMO Risk and Controls team, SDMO Metadata team, Report Owners, Data Management Offices, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Work with the Chief Data Office and other Data Management Offices to support the standards and best practices to improve data quality, participating in initiatives to raise awareness and drive improved data quality across the organization (e.
g. Data Working Groups, Data Literacy projects).
- Prepare and maintain detailed procedural documentation.
- Assist the Associate Director and Director with other ad-hoc tasks, as required.
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
- 3+ years of relevant experience with data management and data analysis.
- Understanding of, or relevant experience in, identifying and logging SORs / APPs.
- Education in a numerical discipline, IT, business or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Proficiency in preparation of reports and presentations.
- Proficiency in presenting to senior management and executives.
Nice-to-have
- General understanding of financial reporting, finance and risk business concepts and procedures.
- Experience working with financial services and systems including finance and / or credit risk data.
- Experience using Collibra or a similar data management or workflow platform.
- Experience reading and understanding data lineage diagrams.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities during busy periods.
