User Terminal Project Coordinator

This setup fosters brainstorming, problem-solving, and trusted relationships and allows our employees to come together three days a week to collaborate, innovate and thrive!As User Terminal Project Coordinator - Antennas, this position is to join the existing engineering team responsible for working with outside technology vendors providing user terminal solutions for Telesat.
This position will report to the Director of UT Program Management. User terminals are being developed for each of the market segments being considered by Telesat.
This position requires a strong project coordinator with experience in being in a technical development group. This position will require a team player comfortable working in a multi-functional organization with engineering, program management, business development and sales.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the program management team in the development and maintenance of project schedules, timelines, reports milestones for multiple vendors of user terminals including integrators and component developers.
- Coordinate project activities with cross-functional teams including system engineering, user terminal engineering, program management, product management and commercial to deliver compliant solutions - on time and on budget.
- Assist in managing the scope (contract, statement-of-work, work-breakdown-structure, monthly executive reporting) requirements, schedule, milestones, risks, opportunities and budget of all assigned programs.
- Leveraging tools such as Jira, Primavera, MS Project, and Power BI prepare program status reports and metrics for internal stakeholders to include risks, changes, and mitigation strategies.
Ensure both internal development and external vendor development are tracked correctly, reported and risks and challenges identified for the UT Lightspeed program
Ensure required documentation for proper management and execution of UT programs is archived appropriately per data management standards
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant discipline with a preference in communication systems or satellite terminals
- Minimum 3 years experience in project management in a STEM field
- Master's degree or MBA is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of project management tools including Oracle Primavera, Microsoft Project, Atlassian (Jira, Confluence)
- Experience working with external vendors including outside design and manufacturing facilities
- Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs and resources
- PMP Certification is a plus
- Fluent in English, written and oral

- Makes decisions about task priorities as required in supporting the program management team objectives
- Self-motivation and the drive to take on varied tasks through to conclusion
- The ability to work well with a diverse team spread around the world
- Ability to describe technical solutions in an easily readable, concise and accurate way
- Will need to execute in areas of ambiguity and make reasonable decisions
Supervision Exercised
- There is no direct reporting staff but this role is expected to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and / or provide technical assistance;
- Supervision of suppliers / contractor during supplier facing activities.
Working Conditions
- This position will be based out of the Ottawa, ON office
- Full-time office or hybrid 60 / 40 office / remote, subject to work needs
- Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment.
- Occasional travel, including international travel is anticipated
- The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain a Reliability Clearance
