Secondary School Junior Electives Teacher

Khalsa Secondary School is seeking candidates for one Electives Teacher position.Khalsa Secondary School is a Sikh faith based school located on 10589 124 Street.

Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We have just completed our first year of MYP candidacy and are looking to seek our IB authorization in the fall of 2024.

We are also an AP Level 2 school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities! Our teachers are supported, have their own classroom and have a prep in each semester.

Currently, we have one Electives Teacher opening for the new 2024-2025 school year starting August 29, 2024. We recognize North American teaching experience.

If you are looking for a classroom of your own for Fall 2024, we have the following Electives Teacher position : Electives Teacher Position Start Date : August 29, 2024 Food Studies 8 - 3 quarters Food Studies 9 - 2 semester blocks Business Ed 8 - 2 quarters Photography 8 - 3 quarters Career Education 8 - 2 quarters Salary : Starting salary of $61,500 / year (over 10 months)*Only offered to CoQ teachers or teachers who have a completed application withthe Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a teacher with a Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) Teaching experience in Canada is recognized for a possible higher startingsalary for CoQ teachers Duties : Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment- Assess student progress and provide feedback- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events Experience : Bachelor's degree in Education or related field- BC teaching certification- Proven experience teaching elective courses as per the BC curriculum or related subjects (preferable)- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues- Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles Skills : Proficient in proofreading educational materials- Classroom management expertise- Effective communication and writing skills- Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus- Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficientlyJoining our team as an electives teacher offers the opportunity to inspire young minds, contribute to their academic growth, and make a positive impact on their educational journey.
