We are currently seeking an Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls Engineer / Technologist to join our dynamic team. As an integral member of the team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the electrical design of multi-disciplinary projects.
You will also enjoy working on multiple projects simultaneously and the challenge of meeting project timelines. Your pride in producing high quality, practical designs from concept through to commissioning will be a vital part of this diverse and interesting position.
Responsibilities :
- Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and implement project specifications
- Assist in project scheduling and development of engineering and capital cost estimates
- Prepare technical specifications, instrument data sheets, requisition quotes and bid evaluations
- Perform instrument design calculations
- Configure reports and update and maintain instrument databases
- Check and review vendor drawings against industry codes and standards to ensure technical accuracy
- Design control panels, IO drawings and communication networks
- Design junction box wiring, location diagrams, and cable schedules
- Prepare control narratives and philosophy documents, as well as written scopes of work for instrument and controls contractors
- Prepare shutdown keys / cause and effect matrices
- Program, commission and startup various types of control systems per project requirements
Skills and Qualifications :
- Post-secondary education with a degree or technical diploma in Instrumentation / Controls / Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering or Applied Sciences
- Registered with EGBC / ASTTBC would be an asset
- Having passed the FE exam towards being licensed in the USA is an asset.
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred
- Process safety and functional safety (IEC 61511) is an asset.
- Strong ability to track progress and prepare status reports.
- Ability to use judgment to solve problems based on engineering guidelines and procedures
- Ability to travel to and work at site as required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to perform and complete multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with engineering software (Microsoft Office, AVEVA, Elecdes, InTools, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Proficiency with collaboration software. (MS Teams, Bluebeam, Zoom, Sharepoint, etc)
- PLC, DCS, HMI, RTU, SCADA programming proficiency is an asset (Allen-Bradley, DeltaV, GE, Modicon, ABB 800XA, Honeywell Experion / PKS, etc.)
- Familiarity with engineering codes and standards (CEC, CSA Z662, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.8, etc.)
- Knowledge of project management principles and management of change is an asset.
- Preference will be given to those with experience in the energy industry but is not mandatory
- LNG and LNG storage experience is an asset.
- Hydrogen processing experience is an asset.

Salary is based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. The competitive salary will be based on skills and experience.
Estimated range is between $80,000-$125,000 / annually (depending on the technologist or engineer route).
