Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years , concepts derived from play-based learning as well as high-scope and nature-based teachings, Lakeside Childcare delivers programming that meets and exceeds children’s natural curiosity and affinity for risky play, while simultaneously supporting children’s well-being and fostering their sense of belonging within the center, their families, and the community.
Summary
Reporting to the centre Supervisor and working under the guidance of Early Childhood Educators, Lakeside Childcare’s Early Childhood Assistants will help plan and facilitate activities and experiences for children.
Our ECAs will assist with tasks such as diapering, food distributing, clean-up duties, and general classroom management.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual who approaches child-focused care with a passionate, interactive approach to play, learning, and development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in development and implementation of child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Assist in daily activities : telling / reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the mediums of art, dramatic play, music, et al
- Assist in maintaining an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children and coincides with Sarnia-Lambton Public Health Unit, the Ministry of Education, and Lakeside Childcare requirements.
- Assist in maintaining a child ratio consistent with the Ministry of Education’s standards and conduct headcounts while transitioning rooms
- Assist Early Childhood Educators in classroom duties such as tidying after meals, preparing to transition, etc.
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and bathroom habits.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents / guardians and community-service providers working with children.
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding and acceptance of differences in children’s learning behaviours
- Understanding of trauma informed care an asset
- Ability to positively contribute to a healthy team environment
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
Required Qualifications
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Minimum one-year experience in a childcare setting
- Clean Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check
- First-Aid level C certified (infant and toddler CPR)
- Proof of current (within six months) negative tuberculosis (TB) test
- Proof of updated vaccinations as required by Ontario’s Ministry of Health
- Bondable
Job Details
- Position : Full-time / Part-time permanent / Call-In
- Full-Time Shifts : Monday to Friday- 6 : 30am to 3 : 30pm, 7 : 30am to 4 : 30pm, 8 : 30am to 5 : 30pm, 9 : 00am-6 : 00pm
- Part-Time Shifts : Monday to Friday- 11 : 00am to 4 : 00pm
- Location : Lakeside Childcare 6482 Telfer Rd. Sarnia, ON
- Wage : $22.00 / hour
