Business Intelligence Analyst
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Business Intelligence and Analystics, you will be responsible You have a passion for problem solving and can articulate a business problem into a technical one and can use SQL and BI Tools with ease.
Here is what a typical day looks like
- Participating in the complete BI Lifecycle of gathering Business requirements, performing data discovery, Identify the relationships that exist within the data, assist with data model design and creation of end user reports.
- Applying technical Business Intelligence skills to data mining and data verification in multiple source systems
- Analysing complex data to determine trending and meaning of trends and convert to usable information for the business.
- Defining, designing, developing, and documenting operational KPIs to support and monitor overall strategic goals
- Working with IBM Cognos Analytics, SQL Server Management Studio, PowerBI and Excel to identify, analyze, and interpret areas performing outside of expected results.
- Creating data visualizations in all available Business Intelligence tools to clearly communicate results.
- Applying analytical skills, business acumen and story-telling abilities to interpreting results and presenting problem solutions to Leadership
- Discovering new insights through experimentation
The value you bring
- Insurance industry experience is an asset but not required.
- 3-5 years related experience as a BI Analyst
- Knowledge of analytics methodologies and techniques
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation
- Experience working with business intelligence tools such as IBM Cognos Analytics and Power BI
- Strong time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Have demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interface with the Business and IT organizations.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field an asset
