Salary range for the position is $155,327 to $232,992. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact :

The Executive Director, Access, Patient Transport and Emergency Response is a member of the Clinical Operations Leadership Teams and acts in an advisory capacity reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Operations (South) in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of services to align and improve the access and efficient flow of patients across Interior Health as we throughout the continuum of care.

The Executive Director provides senior leadership and direction to the development, implementation, and assessment of the Access and Flow strategies, reporting and best practices in patient flow.

The Executive Director chairs the appropriate access and flow committees, partners with Information Management & Information Technology leadership in the deployment prioritization of bed management systems.

The Executive Director also oversees and provides leadership and direction to the Patient Transport Office.

The Executive Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal and external partners in order to seamlessly respond to emergency events.

The Executive Director provides senior leadership and direction to the development, implementation, and assessment of strategies, program & service objectives, and operations that support patient-focused seamless care during emergency events.

What will you work on :

Develops and oversees Access and Flow staff and activities within an integrated and networked health delivery system across the acute, community, tertiary, and residential continuum of care in partnership with the Clinical Operations portfolio and Ministry of Health directives and which improves the health status of the population served.

Provides leadership to the IH-wide Access and Care Transitions Committee.

  • Ensures the tactical planning, financial and business operations, and service delivery activities of the portfolio align with and contribute to successful achievement of the organization’s strategic services plan and deliverables and are working towards ensuring public confidence in health system performance.
  • Partners with Information Management & Information Technology to develop plans and set priorities for investment in access and flow technology, including a bed management system to increase access to and improve flow of health care services.
  • Leads the development of a culture of emergency management in IH through effective communication of the program’s vision, coordinating resources, advancing priorities and implementing consistent, evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborates with partners including Health Emergency Management BC, BC Wildfire Service, Municipal Leaders, Regional Hospital Districts, First Nations Partners, the Provincial Health Services Authority, the Ministry of Health, BC Health Authorities to lead and / or participate in emergency response process improvements.
  • Engages and collaborates with First Nations leaders in emergency and disaster planning and recovery; ensuring effective planning, implementation and coordination of response to emergencies and disasters.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key external parties such as elected officials, government agencies, regional hospital districts, indigenous leaders, advocacy groups, and foundations, and represents the organization in a variety of settings and to external parties.
  • Ensures IH Emergency Response processes are developed utilizing industry best practices, are easily accessed and streamlined.

Coordinates Emergency Response education courses, participates in the development and continuous improvement of Emergency Response education curriculum and instructional strategies, works with key partners to ensure that appropriate, targeted, timely and effective education is provided to address Emergency Response education needs across the region.

Fosters an environment that embraces and supports innovation and evidence-based research to inform local decision-making and develop enhanced practices and protocols.

Partners with Information Management and Information Technology to develop and implement Telehealth and virtual care strategies to improve access to clinical services.

Develops and maintains relationships with key external parties such as elected officials, government agencies, regional hospital districts, indigenous leaders, advocacy groups, and foundations.

Relationships with key partners are foundational for success and must encourage understanding and cooperation in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the portfolio programs and services.

Provides sound financial management (operational and capital) focused on achieving a balanced budget while ensuring a high quality of care at all service levels.

Working within the approved financial mandate, prepares budget and program recommendations, oversees and monitors actual expenses and program / service outcomes, identifies efficiencies and promotes optimal use of resources, and makes recommendations on current and future program and service adjustments.

  • In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.
  • Provides leadership for other services, programs, or projects as assigned by the Vice President.
