Position Summary :

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, Research & Innovation, theResearch Program Manager will be responsible for the oversight and operationalmanagement of GBCs research programs.

This includes planning and executingprogram objectives, identifying new project and funding opportunities,facilitating proposal development, preparing funding applications, managingresearch teams, monitoring project progress, tracking program metrics, and preparingall program reporting requirements.

The incumbent will play a key role insecuring and managing research and innovation funding and will be responsiblefor ensuring that project teams meet all project milestones, deliverables andbudgetary requirements.

The incumbentwill work as part of the GBC Office of Research & Innovation (ORI) team tostimulate and support an institution-wide culture of research and innovation bycultivating strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, and externalpartners.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage program and project teams and develop and implement program plans to effectively allocate resources, including equipment, space, and staff.
  • Track program progress and budgets, monitor timelines, conduct procurement, ensure that targets are met, and report on deliverables.
  • Prepare and oversee the execution of Research and Innovation contracts and agreements.
  • Assign activities to project teams and work with them to ensure that all project deliverables meet or exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintain consistent reporting processes, proactively identify missing or erroneous data, and work with the ORI operations team and senior managers to resolve or minimize immediate and future issues.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasting models, and contribute to the overall ORI budget planning, tracking and forecasting activities.
  • Monitor program budget, identify expenditure trends, reconcile financial records, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain relationships with existing and prospective Research and Innovation stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements :

  • Four-Year Degree in Project Management or Formal Project Management training (courses, or part of program) from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ related experience required.
  • Experience with scientific methods and in conducting research.
  • Grant writing experience will be an asset.
  • Research ethics and intellectual property training would be an asset.
  • Experience in securing project funding.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated multi-tasking, delegating, and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated grant writing and budget development skills.
  • Excellent listening skills, negotiation skills, and client relationship management.
  • Ability to promote excellent working relationships with both academic and non-academic staff.
  • Knowledge of research design and methodology.
  • Knowledge of research funding programs and requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
