PIKANGIKUM EDUCATION AUTHORITY Pikangikum First NationPikangikum, Ontario, P0V 2L0Telephone : (807)773-1093Fax : (807) 773-1014 Physiotherapist Pikangikum Allied Health Services (PAHS) Position Description : Under the direction of the Pikangikum Allied Health Manager and Pikangikum Education Authority (PEA), the Physiotherapist works to help organize and deliver pediatric physiotherapy services in the Pikangikum Allied Health Services (PAHS) program.
This position will be located in a primary office in Winnipeg, and travel when needed to Pikangikum First Nation to conduct assessments, develop implement treatment plans, participate in interdisciplinary meetings and provide guidance and supervision to other PAHS staff and PEA staff will be required.
Responsibilities will Include : Work closely with the Learning Resource Team at Eechokay Birchstick School to identify students with functional challenges in gross and fine motor development and sensory processing issues Conduct assessments of children in the school setting and community setting using both formal and informal assessment techniques Ensure all testing and diagnostic assessment instruments and tools are reviewed and adapted where possible, and are culturally appropriate for use among First Nations children Develop and implement individualized treatment plans Monitor / modify and follow up of treatment plans Supervise and provide guidance to rehabilitation aides Work collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary teams that includes tutor escorts and other professional staff such as teachers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapist, behavioral therapists, special education resource teacher, school administration and parents Assist in the development of the PAHS program;
Develop training materials and tools for staff, students and caregivers / parents Conduct training sessions as needed Ensure that proper case records, assessment reports, statistical records and all other data to each case is maintained and confidential.
Maintain and inventory of all equipment and materials and record when they are lent out Work closely with Anderson Services, SLFNA and other service providers as we transition cases to PAHS;
Work under the policies of the Pikangikum Education Authority. Qualifications : Master’s degree in Medical Rehabilitation or its equivalent from a recognized program in Physiotherapy Experience working with children with complex physical, cognitive, mental, behavioral, or social issues A licensed member of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba or Ontario.

- The PEA offers a competitive compensation and benefits package based on qualifications and experience. Salary Range : will be pro-rated based on the size of the position.
