Who- the Company :

Our client is a successful and innovative company working in a very interesting industry at the intersection of energy and technology.

The North American head office is located in Vancouver and the global headquarters is based overseas.

What- the Opportunity :

On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst . This is a very well-rounded tax role involving tax planning, global tax risk, analyzing large-scale projects for tax costs, tax filings and compliance, monitoring corporate governance requirements, etc.

Who- the Candidate :

  • At least 3 years and ideally 5+ years progressive experience in taxation, including experience in both US and Canadian tax (the more provinces and the more states, the better!)
  • CPA accounting designation (or International equivalent) is required.
  • Pursuit or completion of the In-depth Income Tax Course and / or a Master’s degree in Tax is a significant asset, not required
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance. Training in a multinational public practice firm is preferred.

Experience working in a corporate office (HQ or subsidiary office) of a global public company is preferred.

  • Systems : High level of proficiency in Excel is required, including financial modeling skills. Experience using a cloud-based financial system and tax preparation software.
  • There are a lot of deadlines to juggle in this role; therefore, excellent time management and organizational skills along with a process improvement mindset are all crucial.
  • Top-notch communication skills are important- ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across many countries.

Where :

Based out of a corporate office in downtown Vancouver , conveniently accessible by public transit and close to many amenities and shops.

Hybrid work model available- at least 3 days a week in the office (likely 4 days during initial training and onboarding) and 1-2 days a week from home.

The Finance Manager must have some flexibility on their work hours to hit deadlines and also to communicate & collaborate with colleagues working in various time zones.

How Much :

This company offers a highly competitive total compensation package ! Base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education, likely in the range of $90,000-$125,000 (please note that the top end is reserved for candidates who have not only the requirements, but also many of the nice-to-have qualifications).

The overall compensation package includes an annual performance-based bonus, an attractive long-term incentive plan (LTIP) with a reasonable vesting timeline, CPA and professional development support, health benefits and likely an RRSP match in future.
