Accountant job opening in Toronto, ON

Adecco Professional has partnered with our client in the legal arena to assist them with a maternity leave of their Corporate Accountant.

This full-time opportunity for approximately 14 months and is best suited for someone who brings experience from a law or professional services firm and drive to be an integral part of the Canadian firm - note that this is a singular role in Canada and works with US leadership and support team.

You will be self-motivated to make things happen efficiently and accurately and understand the requirements and support the lawyers require.

You will be doing daily accounting functions in a high volume and fast paced capacity and being the subject matter expert for Canada.

For this Accountant job opening in Toronto, ON some of the highlights of the role include, but are not limited to :

  • Accounts Payable functions start to finishing including disbursements, gl coding, tax, expense processing, new vendor set up, cheque runs, payment processing etc
  • Billings which can include employment billings, immigration billing, adjustments, time billings etc.
  • Accounts Receivable and collections responsibilities
  • Cash receipts
  • Perform various reconciliations and ensure accurate and timely completion; including GL and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Tax related functions of HST / GST / QST
  • Communicate with internal and external clients and vendors, send out statement of accounts etc as needed
  • Help in preparing for internal / externals audits
  • Assist with other accounting related functions to ensure the timely and smooth running in Canada.

The selected incumbent for the Accountant job opening in Toronto, ON will meet the following requirements :

  • At least 3+ years of full-cycle Accounting experience
  • Experience in the legal and / or professional services industry
  • You are technically savvy with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); asset to those with Thomson Reuters software experience
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and spoken; this includes strong interpersonal skills to work with and communicate with the lawyers and team
  • You are highly organized, great at managing your time and prioritizing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional eye for detail taking pride in your levels of accuracy
  • A problem solver with strong analytical abilities
