Duration : 12 months Contract (highly extendable)
Location : Toronto, Calgary or Edmonton / hybrid - 3 Days a week in the office (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
We are seeking a skilled Instructional Designer and Developer responsible for executing end-to-end training design, development, trainer enablement, measurement, and, in some cases, delivery of training activities supporting the Asset and Work Management workstream.
This role is pivotal in identifying training requirements to support end-user adoption through training deliverables for Utility integration and future ERP transformation teams and business change teams.
Specific Accountabilities
- Collaborate with Functional Change Specialists and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to conduct training needs analysis and define training needs in stakeholder groups.
- Design learning objectives for training courses / activities and create storyboards.
- Recommend appropriate delivery mechanisms.
- Work with SMEs, project leads, and change specialists to design, develop, implement, evaluate, and revise curriculum and learning resources aligned with program goals.
- Create and maintain a Detailed Development Design plan using the ADDIE process.
- Manage timelines for SME review and input to maintain the development schedule.
- Perform quality control on other instructional designers' work.
- Deliver train-the-trainer sessions with business unit trainers and functional team trainers.
- Serve as a resource during training sessions for trainers.
- Revise training based on initial feedback to close learning gaps.
- Highlight risks, dependencies, and constraints to the Training Lead and recommend mitigations.
- Conduct knowledge transfer and transition activities to support sustainment.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Information and Learning Technologies, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of experience in training needs analysis, designing, developing, and evaluating curriculum and learning activities for web-based, computer-based, instructor-led, and virtual training.
- Knowledge / experience with designing and developing training material in Work Management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of adult learning theories, ADDIE principles, program design strategies, technologies, trends, and best practices for online and instructor-led learning programs.
- Proven ability to design and write course materials, activities, assessments, and job aids.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Agile and willing to take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience working on ERP projects or large transformation projects involving SAP, Maximo, and / or mobile deployments.
- Knowledge of IBM Maximo systems.
- Experience in assessing and measuring training needs specific to business process and system changes.
- Ability to understand end-user impacts from changes in functional processes.
- Extensive experience with Articulate 360 (Storyline and / or Rise), PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience creating animated videos using Vyond, screen recordings with Camtasia, and video editing with ClipChamp.
