Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty for Degree Level teaching in our Interior Design program within the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design.
Sheridan seeks Part-Time Professors to teach one semester, face-to-face, the following course over the 14-week Fall session, starting September 3, 2024, at our HMC Campus.
The course(s) are scheduled to run Tuesday 11 : 30 am-2 : 30 pm and Thursday 3 : 00 pm 6 : 00 pm.
DESN22550 Detailing 2
Students explore the basic aspects of the commercial built environment including construction systems, associated technologies, and finish materials.
Detailing and specification projects in this course relate properties and characteristics of materials and technical components to commercial interior design solutions.
Students devise commercial construction details and apply the fundamentals of commercial construction. Students apply knowledge of commercial interior building technologies to develop a set of millwork details.
Students generate a detail journal, where they employ sketching, creative thinking, and technical knowledge. Through investigation, research and discussion, students employ a technical vocabulary, stressing the manipulation of materials and technologies.
Content delivery includes lectures, site visits, critiques and peer review.

Sheridan faculty provide academic leadership to programs and courses within their areas of expertise and contribute to the creation of a learning-centred environment where students can develop to their full potential.
They also contribute to College, School and program excellence by collaborating on a variety of initiatives such as new program development, applied research and alternative delivery strategies.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional / program disciplines;
- Creating an effective environment for learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles;
- Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning;
- Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the learning process.
- Professors also ensure that students are aware of course and program learning outcomes, learning strategies and evaluation techniques;
provide individual tutoring and academic counselling; and evaluate student progress / achievement within assigned courses.

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following qualifications :
- Masters preferred
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent
- Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment
- Minimum of 5 years related professional experience
