Our client in the utility sector has an immediate requirement for a Health and Safety Advisor for their busy operation. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, this important position is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting all field management and staff.
As a Safety Advisor, your key responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the following :
Safety meetings : report and investigate all work incidents; risk assessment; safety training; site visits.
Research OHS regulations, client directives and industry best practices to ensure that our system becomes best-in-class , where employees will be provided with a safety and environmental management system that ensures compliance in all operation areas, clients and OHS regulations.
Liaise, develop, and maintain good standing relationships with regulatory bodies, such as : WCB, construction safety associations, FED / PROV Gov’t, and CLC, etc.).
This role will require travel within BC from time to time.
Job Requirements :
The successful candidate will have 3 plus years of Health and Safety experience in an Advisor role or above; post-secondary education certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized institution in safety and / or environmental fields;
CRSP designation and Powerline industry experience preferred. Experience in a project-based company or in a related industry is an asset, as is in depth knowledge of electricity, working at heights, cranes, rigging, confined space and ground disturbance activities.
Exceptional time management skills, experience in a fast-paced work environment and being exceptionally analytical are traits necessary to be considered for this role.
Planning and organizational skills, working knowledge of Google Earth, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new software are mandatory.
