Clark Builders is hiring a Project Accountant in Edmonton. This role is responsible for leading all fiscal management and financial administration aspects of a project.
They will ensure all team members, including Project Manager and Superintendent, follow company financial policy and procedures, and communicate any potential profitability or risk to management.
Assigned projects may require periodic site visits or full-time attendance on site.
Reports to : Accounting Manager Operational Finance
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Review of prime contracts and participate in project start-up meetings with project staff to ensure contract compliance and effective project set up.
Review project estimates for adherence to procedural guidelines, completeness, and accuracy
Manage project receivables, payables, and holdback for timely collection and payment
Review cost and T&M reports for correct coding and charge out rates
Prepare and enter adjustments to cost and rates as required.
Review cost recoveries for accuracy and completeness
Prepare and update monthly billing schedule of values for PM’s to complete if required (note : some PMs manage SOV)
Prepare invoices and attach applicable schedule, statutory declaration, WCB clearance, and / or other client required documentation
Enter approved invoices and balance total billed to date on invoice to eCMS; purge detail billing if applicable
Update the invoice monitor weekly with planned invoice completion timeline
Prepare fee reconciliations on CM jobs
Complete the job closeout process
Report on the status of under billed monthly
Review and report on accounts receivable & project cash flow
Work with project teams to provide revenue estimates to Corporate Accounting
Qualifications :
2-year Accounting Diploma or equivalent experience in construction accounting industry
Experience in roles where excellent customer service was essential
Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook and Excel primarily)
Knowledge of Alberta Builders’ Lien Act, construction contracts or the principles of LEAN continuous improvement ia considered an asset
Experience with coaching teams in collaborative planning is an asset
Experience or knowledge of continuous improvement is an asset
High degree of organizational skills and attention to detail
Professional written and verbal communication skills
