We are looking for a Director of Finance, to support the growth of our business in Toronto. Reporting to the Group CFO / SVP, the Director will support the management of the financial reporting, audit and tax and internal control functions across the OTT Financial Group.
This position will partner with a professional work team responsible for the more complex and technically challenging areas of the company i.
e., accounting, tax, information technology, operations, risk, and compliance etc. This is a full-time, permanent position.

As our Director of Finance, you will :
- Complete the "Financial Reporting Packages" for quarterly and annual reporting purposes on a timely and accurate basis.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Prepare company working papers required for annual external and tax audits.
- Prepare monthly tax returns for legal entities and assist in review of external accountant prepared tax returns.
- Partner and advise operating companies to ensure compliance with internal controls / processes.
- Coordinate with external advisor on internal control reviews
- Motivate, lead and coach the internal controls team by providing feedback and assisting in the formulation of personal development plans.
Continuously assess and monitor talent development by identifying succession plans and challenging learning opportunities to foster professional growth, to support the business.
- Direct support to senior management as tax lead on enterprise-wide tax, operating and business transaction projects
- Driving value for the organization as the lead on tax strategies and planning initiatives
- Develop manage and maintain strong cross-functional working relationships with other departments including Legal, Operations, Accounting, Human Resources and Treasury to ensure tax is at the forefront of business decisions and any tax risks associated with new product or sales channels are proactively identified and managed
- Responsible for tax compliance and the principle contact for government tax audits
- Responsible for the quarterly and annual income tax provision and related note disclosures
- Providing oversight of tax payments and estimates communicated to Treasury and overall responsible over tax accounts to ensure activity and balances are reconciled and appropriately reflect the Company’s tax position and status
- Ensure transfer pricing policies and documentation is current, consistently applied and in compliance with transfer pricing regulations
- Providing business analysis upon request including projections of future cash taxes
- Consistently monitor and evaluate the internal processes and guidelines to ensure efficiency and provide recommendations on optimizing and automating the tax function while minimizing tax risks
- Actively monitor, assess the impact of and respond to potential tax changes impacting the organizational structure
What you bring to the table :
- A university degree or college diploma in business, accounting, finance, or a related field.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with strong preference for experience in Canadian tax accounting within real estate development industry or the Big Four.
- Broad exposure to tax planning, business development activities and reorganizations an asset.
- At least 3-5 years of experience leading an accounting / finance team.
- Must have CPA (Canada / Ontario) or CFA designation.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and people management skills
- Ability to identify problems, recommend effective solutions, negotiate with management, and ensure that those solutions are implemented effectively and timely.
- Integrity and sound judgement in all decisions and interactions aligned with our values and policies and external regulations.
This position is not remote or hybrid and is expected to report to our Leslie Street Head Office from Mon - Fri 9 : 00am to 5 : 30pm.
