The Opportunity
Manulife is seeking a Program Director, Canada Data Office (CDO) to join our rapidly expanding data organization and assist us as we work to be a digital leader in our industry through trusted data!
This role will also be responsible for defining and implement PM Best Practices (Processes, Tools & Templates) in support of Canada Data Office’s strategic priorities.
The scope will cover the oversight over financial management & reporting, planning as well as partner engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide program governance leadership. Embed strong program management best practice across Canada Data Office.
- Define Program Management Playbook (Processes, Tools, Templates / Artifacts) combining industry best practice & Manulife standards.
Maintain and balance consistency and agility.
- Continuously evaluate our delivery program strength with a view to always improve CDO’s operating approach; challenge the status quo with the intent to improve
- Support Head of CDO in capacity / resource forecasting, budget management and planning at the portfolio level by working directly and proactively with other CDO value stream leaders to consolidate information to prepare for review with CDO Head.
- Responsible for regular portfolio reporting / dashboards to both internal and external partners. Reporting involves consolidation of all program status reports from program managers with time, cost, quality, other defined KPI’s.
- Create reports / dashboards to visualize and communicate CDO delivery performance
- Own selected programs within the portfolio.
- Guide and manage other program managers and / or engage with value stream leads within CDO

What we are looking for
- 5+ years of hands-on program manager experience in a large sized organization.
- Experience with data technology solutions. Understanding of big data technologies (particular focus on Cloud Azure ); to be able to converse with data architects and data engineers to accelerate technology delivery of the program.
- Excelling in program / program / portfolio financial management
- Hands-on experience with Agile processes
- Proven track record to build effective relationships within various levels of an organization to achieve desired outcomes through
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid conflict management and resolution skills build consensus, anticipate, and solve problems
- High analytical ability to break down complex issues to solvable pieces
- Being self-directed and confident to work independently. With good judgement to know when supervisor’s help is needed
- A team-first approach, able to contribute to the building of an impactful team with a high degree of trust.
- A fast learner, with strong resilience and resourcefulness to work through ambiguity

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
Toronto, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between
$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education / training.
