What will you do?
- Experience in Automation Systems, Microgrid and Distributed Energy Systems, as well as including SICAM PAS, SICAM A8000, SICAM 1703, SICAM SCC (WinCC), Toolbox II and Device Manager.
- Proficient in conducting training sessions and demonstrations for clients.
- Able to materialize network topologies and architecture drawings.
- Knowledgeable in substation automation and microgrid system commissioning including SICAM PAS, Toolbox II and device manager.
- Knowledgeable in Control & Protection Commissioning and Protection Systems including SIPROTEC Relays, DIGSI 4, and DIGSI 5.
- Familiarity with Other Protection Systems such as GE Relays, SEL Relays and others.
- Understanding of Power Quality Systems including SICAM PQS, SICAM Q80, and SICAM P855.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC101 / 3 / 4, OPC.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) encompassing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar PV, Genset / Engines (Diesel / Natural Gas), and Wind.
- Ability to review / confirm and markup as required of SLD and three-line diagrams, protection, metering and control schematics, interconnection diagrams
- Review and understand short circuit, protection coordination and arc flash studies to determine system settings and protection schemes
- Conduct protection FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) with customer both in factory and at site and production of test reports
- Participate and provide input in the preparation of RFQs and bid evaluations analysis
- Ensure first line protection and automation support for customer, with support of the team.
- In-depth understanding of Substation Automation Systems, IoT and gateway switches.
- In-depth understanding of Microgrid Control and various Use Case Offerings such as Black Start, Diesel offset, Volt / VAR optimization, peak shaving, and grid connection.
What will you need to succeed?
- Bachelor's degree in electrical and / or automation engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of practical experience in Substation Automation Systems, Microgrid, and Distributed Energy Systems.
- Licensed profession engineer is an asset
- Good verbal and written communication
- Bilingual in French is an asset
- AutoCad experience is an asset
- Willingness to travel across Canada for various Protection Automation activities
- Able to complete training in Canada, USA and Europe for business requirements
- Expertise in conducting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Good understanding of Substation Environment including LV, MV and HV Switchgear, Transformers, etc.
