The Financial Analyst performs core financial activities to support the business goals of the organization, contributing to the overall success of the organization by effectively executing responsibilities and providing value added activities to meet the finance and Operational team objectives for Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited.
The Incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.
Successful candidates must possess the following competencies and will be pre-screened for those bolded, prior to the interview portion of the selection process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensures the timely and accurate completion of monthly general ledger close responsibilities including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and analyses
- Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting and other ad hoc tasks as assigned
- Provides guidance on appropriate accounting treatment for accounting transactions and emerging accounting issues, including detailed documentation of accounting analysis and recommendation
- Discusses financial performance in terms of key value drivers of the business and clearly communicates the analysis behind the numbers
- Conducts financial accounting activities including financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, business planning and analysis for internal clients and related public filings
- Provides reliable financial information, analysis and operational support related to electricity regulatory filings, tax provision reporting requirements and other internal management reporting requirements
- Collects, analyzes and reviews received data to ensure accuracy and reasonability and work collaboratively to resolve any issues
- Develops, sustains and monitors relevant controls to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Implements accounting, organizational and regulatory policies and the associated internal control activities, including supporting external auditors
- Improves productivity in processes, which may include re-engineering current processes and finding automation and efficiencies through the use of IT tools
- Ensures Risk Management and Internal Controls, including assessment and monitoring whether internal controls in place are adequately designed and operating effectively
- Anticipates, understands, and responds to the needs of the internal and external clients (including operational units) related to financial and operational activities as required to meet organizational goals
- Performs ad hoc analysis, special projects and initiatives as needed
REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related field from an accredited school
- Minimum 3-5 years progressive experience with Financial reporting and analysis
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation in progress
- Database / data management concepts specifically as it relates to SAP financial systems and Hyperion preferred
- Demonstrate strong data mining skills and analytical skills through the use of financial tools (e.g. Essbase)
- Accounting Designation of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) required
- Advanced Excel skills to analyze large volumes of data and summarize analytics that are relevant and accurate; experience with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Word
- Regulated business or energy sector experience preferred.
- Demonstrated project planning, documentation and reporting skill
- Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Finance Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.
Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.
