Job Description
The Diversified Analog Solutions team in Ottawa is developing wireless integrated circuit components and has a challenging opportunity for a University Student available for a 12 month work term.
The successful candidate will report to a senior engineering mentor assigned to them. The ideal student will be required to apply sound engineering skills to a variety of task and project assignments in the area of electronics, design engineering, and semiconductor component test development.
Job Responsibilities
Contribute to the research and development of advanced RF integrated circuit and module in the area of wireless technology.
The role primarily focuses on conducting lab tests on RF circuits and presenting / interpreting measurement data; but the successful candidate may also be in involved in circuit design / simulation, presenting design expectations / results, and participating in design reviews.
Assist in new product engineering and design activities.
Assist full time engineering group members with their project assignments.
Completion of small projects and task assignments of various degrees of complexity, ranging from RF / analog design and test environment programming, documentation, etc.
Job Requirements
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an MS or PhD Electrical Engineering (or related) degree program.
Experience with RF lab equipment, including oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum / signal analyzer, VNA, etc.
Basic knowledge of RF / analog circuits and principles.
Solid understanding of S-parameters and electromagnetics
Desirable knowledge / experience includes :
Familiarity with ADS, Cadence, or similar simulation tools
Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as ADS Momentum / EMX / HFSS
Basic familiarity with RF circuit blocks, such as PAs, LNAs, switches etc.
Self-starter with a strong work ethic
Must be willing to work in a hands-on environment
Must have strong time management skills
Good communication, organization, and documentation skills
The typical pay range for an intern is currently CAD $25.00 - $44.00 per hour. Starting base pay will depend on level of education and the ultimate job duties and requirements.
