The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing the importation of Building Material goods, across international borders and through customs.
Canada, USA and Mexico) Must be capable of ensuring compliance with customs regulations and managing relationships with freight forwarders and suppliers.
The role involves coordinating shipments, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of products while minimizing costs.
This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, people management and a strong understanding of international shipping regulations, and excellent communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, organize, direct, manage and evaluate the operations and budget of transportation department
- Manage the transportation and movement of goods involved in the supply chain services.
- Identify areas for improvement and plans to advance the business.
- Direct staff activities in relation to transportation operations, including dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles.
- Direct the effectiveness of private, third party and contract carriage systems.
- Worth with international carriers and freight forwarders to streamline the flow of goods across international borders through customs.
- Negotiate and authorize contracts, direct procurement related to transportation operational needs.
- Develop KPI's to measure effectiveness of transportation operations.
- Managing Import Processes : Coordinate and manage all aspects of importing goods, including working with carriers on customs clearance, documentation, shipping, and delivery schedules.
Proactively track and report on inbound container status and find solutions to minimize container delays during transit.
- Develop and implement schedules and procedures
- Allocate resources to meet targets in areas such as transit and delivery times; inventory levels; purchasing, warehousing and storage costs
- Liaise with functional and operations area managers to ensure supply activities are integrated with other parts of the business
- Lead, direct, evaluate and develop staff to ensure resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met
- Responsible for inventory control program and process flow covering the end-to-end supply chain solution
- Optimize warehouse functions

Bachelor s degree in Integrated Supply Chain Management or related field and 4 years of Supply Chain / Logistics experience, OR Associates degree and 6 years of Supply Chain /
Logistics / Warehouse Management experience
Experience :
7+ years' experience in a Supply Chain Management role in a Manufacturing / Building Material Setting
Knowledge of manufacturing / production processes
Knowledge of Customs and Trade Compliance with Canada, USA and Mexico
Experience with or knowledge of raw materials
planning / production scheduling processes
Working knowledge of ERP system or Logistics / Procurement Software
