General Manual Machinist

We are currently recruiting for general machinists for our Paris and Brantford locations.

Shift : Days and Afternoons - biweekly rotation

Pay rate : $30-36 depending on experience

OT available

Location : Brantford or Paris

Ideal candidate will have their machinist ticket - 429a, however equivalent experience will be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual equipment
• Machine product to specified requirements as defined within production shop orders, drawings and sketches
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Administer metrology knowledge and experience as necessary
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling of large product
• Maintain equipment in safe and productive condition, including but not limited to, regular routine lubrication, cleaning, maintaining coolant levels
• Shovel chips generated by machinery; grind parts and assist and support fellow employees in their duties, when / as required

Qualifications

• Prior Machinist experience required - a machinist ticket would be an asset
• High school diploma required
• A good understanding of machining principles is essential
• Good knowledge of cutting tools as well as speeds and feeds an asset
• Simple trigonometry calculations required
• Good command of the English language both written and verbal
• Familiarity with material handling equipment (overhead cranes and forklifts) and the safe handling of large objects
• Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skill
