Waste Water Collections Maintenance has up to one (1)Full Time, Temporary (for up to 11 months), position available with the Preventative Maintenance teamworking out of the Aurum site in Edmonton, AB.
This position is primarily responsible for supporting Preventative Maintenance in day to day activities related to the maintenance of the wastewater collection system.
This is a skilled work role which involves assisting in the operation and maintenance of heavy duty drainage system cleaning and inspection equipment.
Work of this class is normally performed with little supervision, and incumbents are accountable for executing written and verbal instructions given by the Drainage System Combo Operator.
What you’d be responsible for
The Drainage System Labourer 3 is accountable to the Manager of Preventative Maintenance.
- Assisting the Drainage System Combo Operator in the day-to-day activities which includes; high pressure flushing, releasing plugged mainlines, pumping catch basins, drainage emergency response, mainline CCTV sewer inspections, performing conditional assessments and working with other related equipment that may be used in the maintenance of the wastewater collection system.
- Perform routine labouring work associated with the operation and upkeep of the Vactor Combo units and or MTV units.
- Assisting with daily checks / inspections and lubrication needs and minor maintenance requirements.
- Carrying out daily checks / inspections and lubrication needs and minor maintenance requirements.
- Occasionally responsible to provide guidance / training to new or less experienced Labourers assigned to the crew. Responsible for contact with the appropriate Labour Foreman 3 in order to communicate or escalate issues as necessary.
- Reporting all deficiencies (assets and equipment) through IVARA, GeoFit and to Labour Foreman 3.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of the equipment, tools, and materials used, including knowledge of drainage systems.
- Ability to rate up as an operator by successfully completing Drainage System Combo Operator certification and attaininga valid Class 3 driver’s license with air break endorsement within 12 months.
What’s required to be successful
- Grade 12 or GED or equivalent.
- Alberta Environment Wastewater Collection Certification Level 1. Preference will be given to candidates with Level 1.For candidates that do not have this certification you must be actively working towards achieving Level 1 within 12 months.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Ability to qualify for and maintain a valid EPCOR driver's permit.
- Minimum of one year experience of working with the combination units.
- Minimum of two years of experience in any aspects of Wastewater Collections Systems maintenance.
- Must be current with all compliance training as required within Drainage Services.
- Intermediate knowledge and skill using computers and software programs such as; IVARA,GeoFit, SWP App, MS Office suite of products (i.
e. word, outlook and excel), Granite.
- Sound knowledge of the methods, practices and rules of the safe operation of the assigned equipment.
- Proven ability to operate equipment skillfully, safely and in conformance with applicable laws or regulations.
