The Financial Analyst, Fixed Assets will use their knowledge and experience in financial reporting, financial analyses, accounting issues and audits to be responsible for the overall integrity and timely preparation of financial results, associated analytics and disclosures related to fixed asset.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following :
- Maintain the Fixed Asset subledger in SAP for all legal entities
- Record all capital transactions such as creation of new assets, depreciation, disposals, etc. and ensure that all transactions adhere to internal Capex policy and IFRS standards
- Responsible for fixed-asset related month-end and year-end closing procedures such as journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and continuity schedules
- Provide guidance with various departments on capitalization rules related to new projects
- Lead monthly asset review process
- Responsible for IFRS 16 application which encompasses reviewing lease documentation, evaluating appropriate accounting treatment of each lease, calculating right of use assets and liabilities, preparing financial statement note disclosures and accounting memos
- Maintain business process documentation and identify opportunities for efficiencies
- Act as liaison with external auditors as required during the financial statement audit
- Prepare operational reports to assist management in evaluating results and / or opportunities
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team by performing other duties as required
- Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
- Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures
The ideal candidate :
- Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent)
- 4+ years of relevant financial accounting and reporting experience
- Experience with SAP and Cognos is an asset
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
- Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures.
