In accordance with Northern Health's vision of an idealized system of services where people and their families receive primary care services in Primary Care Homes supported by interprofessional teams, the Tele-Care Office Assistant (TOA) functions as a member of the Tele-Care interprofessional team.
As an integral member of the team, the Tele-Care Office Assistant works to support providers and the Tele-Care Interprofessional Team in the delivery of safe, efficient, and quality Primary Services through the use of virtual support services.
The Tele-Care Office Assistant provides both operational and administrative support at the virtual Tele-Care clinic setting in accordance with Northern Health policies and procedures.
- The Tele-Care Office Assistant is responsible for workspace management in MOIS. The TOA primarily cleans up the formatting and sends consultations to primary care providers throughout the Northern Health region and occasionally beyond this region;
- checks and sends lab requisitions to the various testing locations throughout Northern Health after determining what location is closest to the patient;
- assists with booking population public health / MHO requests; follows up with questions about lab requisitions and test results from patients / providers / testing locations;
sends sick notes to patients and assists the patients with retrieving their secured messages; assists as needed with double checking that all calls are finished or moved to the next provider, as needed.
The TOA should also check to ensure that consistency is maintained for appointment bookings so that appointments display on the correct date and daybook and are scheduled or re-scheduled as appropriate.

Qualfications
- Grade 12.
- Graduation from an Office Assistant Course from an accredited Community College plus two years recent, related experience in a health care setting.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Clinical background
