Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled CAD Technician to join our landscape design team. The CAD Technician will be responsible for creating detailed technical landscape plans and details for natural playgrounds and parks.
Working closely with Landscape Architects and Designers, the CAD Technician will develop landscape construction drawings, shop drawings, and installation drawings adhering to project specifications and industry standards.
This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting and Technical Support
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including site plans, grading plans, planting plans, and construction details, based on sketches, specifications, and design concepts provided by the design team.
- Prepare and revise technical drawings throughout all phases of the project, from concept through to construction documentation.
- Ensure that all drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and project-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with Landscape Architects and Designers to resolve design challenges and ensure the accuracy of technical drawings.
Project Coordination
- Assist in coordinating with other disciplines (e.g., civil engineering, architecture) to ensure the integration of landscape design elements with other project components.
- Maintain organized project files and manage drawing revisions, ensuring that all documents are up-to-date and accurately reflect the latest design decisions.
- Support the preparation of presentation materials, including rendered plans, sections, and details, for client meetings and design reviews.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct thorough reviews of all CAD drawings to identify and correct any errors or omissions.
- Ensure that all drawings are clear, precise, and easy to interpret by construction teams and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with the design team to implement feedback and make necessary adjustments to drawings.
Technical Expertise
- Stay current with advancements in CAD software and technology, applying new tools and techniques to improve drafting efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide technical support to the design team, offering insights and suggestions for improving the clarity and functionality of drawings.
- Assist in developing and maintaining CAD standards and best practices for the team.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the design team to understand project goals, design intent, and technical requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, providing updates on drafting progress and discussing any challenges or concerns.
- Communicate effectively with external consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure alignment on design details.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in CAD drafting, preferably in landscape architecture, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience in 2D and 3D drafting.
- Experience with other design software such as SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
