What is the opportunity?
As a Director you will play as a quarterback role of GRM (Group Risk Management) to support all digital and agile initiatives in RBC Insurance, and ensure comprehensive risk identification, evaluation, mitigation and monitoring across all risk types for the business unit in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Framework.
What will you do?
- Provide thought leadership to risk management activities for digital and agile initiatives. Ensure technological advancements and digital transformations proceed smoothly while safeguarding the organization against potential risks that could impact operations, reputation and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate with Chief Risk Officer and other senior leaders on risk implications, mitigations and strategies. Maintain a comprehensive and holistic view of the company's risk profile including digital and other risks
- Understand risk appetite and tolerance to support decision making
- Play a proactive role in integrating risk management into the strategic planning and execution of digital initiatives.
- Attend various risk and agile ceremonies, ranging from risk forums, brainstorms, refinement sessions / demo days and support risk assessments, identifying risk impact.
- Work with various of stakeholders across Insurance and Group Risk Management to align on risk assessment and mitigations.
- Promote risk culture by engaging with stakeholders across functions
- Lead and support other GRMI risk management initiatives
What will you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 7 to 10 years with digital and governance experience in a large matrix organization
- 5 years risk experience across 1st or 2nd Line of Defense within a large organization
- Strong technology and architecture acumen with an understanding of web-based apps and PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS models
- Experience with Agile methodologies and working in digital environments. Familiarity with Ux and Cx principles
- Understanding insurance products and operations
- Ability to balance risk and business needs and value
- Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders, and demonstrate strong collaboration skills across the organization.
Strong problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.

- Canadian or international regulatory compliance background
- Knowledge of Insurance regulation
