About the role
We’re looking for AB Paralegals to join our growing team!
Intact Insurance Company has a team of over litigators in 12 locations across Canada, including 5 Ontario cities. Intact is now seeking dynamic paralegals with AB experience to join our team!
What you’ll do here :
- Independent carriage of file handling matters before the License Appeal Tribunal from beginning to conclusion.
- Provide support to Legal Counsel by second chairing, providing research, and other appropriate file related tasks in complex and high value files.
- Draft opinions, pleadings, affidavits and other legal documents to support applications, mediations, case conferences, private arbitrations and LAT hearings.
- Independently prepare and conduct LAT hearings of appropriate complexity, primarily written hearings.
- Prepare and present legal educational seminars to the claims department and help your Intact colleagues from other departments on inquiries.
- Maintain productive and effective communications with claims department and adjusters.
What you bring to the table :
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario with a P1 License.
- Minimum of 2 years + of insurance litigation experience.
- Experience in legal research and writing, including authorship of legal opinions.
- Experience in drafting pleadings, affidavits, and written submissions, and preparing summaries of medical and financial documents.
- Proficiency in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.
- Tribunal hearing and / or trial experience is a definite asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with research and negotiation experience.
- Have superior organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple case files simultaneously.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective client relationships.
- Set high standards, be an agent of change, adaptive, with a strong drive to outperform.
