The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) is a dynamic Catholic school board committed to the delivery of quality educational programs and services from a Catholic faith perspective.

Psychological Associate / Psychoeducational Consultant

Position type : Permanent and Contract (Full-Time / Part-Time)

Salary Range :

Psychological Associate / Psychoeducational Consultant

$70,574 - $113,928 (annually)

Employees who hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field of study shall receive $2,363 in addition to their grid placement, prorated based on FTE / length of contract

The position of Psychologist with a Master’s Degree and Psychological Associates shall receive $1,600 in addition to their grid, placement prorated based on FTE / length of contract

Position Summary

These positions report to the Superintendent of Special Education & Learning Services Department. Under the administrative direction of the Superintendent of Special Education and Learning Services and through the clinical supervision of the Chief Psychologist / Senior Psychologist, the Psychologist / Psychological Associate / Psychoeducational Consultant will consult with staff regarding academic, behavioural, social and emotional problems.

They will provide assessment and counselling services. They will also conduct research and program evaluation as required.

Qualifications : Psychological Associate / Psychoeducational Consultant

  • Master's degree in School, Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
  • Previous experience in a school psychology setting an asset.
  • Experience administering psychological assessments measuring intellectual, academic, social, behavioural and emotional / mental health functioning in children and adolescents.
  • Experience with consulting, counselling and primary, secondary and tertiary intervention programs and techniques.
  • Evidence of commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Registration as a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
  • Psychoeducational Consultant Working towards registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario for independent practice.

Position Title : Psychological Associate

Department : Psychology / Special Education and Learning Services

Title of Immediate Supervisor : Chief Psychologist

Summary of Objectives :

Psychological Associates work under the administrative direction of the Superintendent of Special Education and Learning Services or designate, and the clinical direction of the Chief Psychologist.

The Psychological Associate will apply their knowledge of human behaviour, development and mental health to the learning, mental health and well-being needs of students through psychological assessment, intervention and consultation.

Major Functions and Responsibilities :

Direct Student Support

  • Perform appropriate psychological assessments and formulate and communicate a differential diagnosis when indicated through a cross-cultural, equity and inclusive lens.
  • Plan, execute and evaluate appropriate academic and therapeutic mental health prevention and intervention programs through a cross-cultural, equity and inclusive lens.
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams to provide crisis interventions for students.

Indirect Student Support

  • Participate in school conferences and team meetings.
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams for case management and program planning.
  • Consult with teachers, principals and other staff regarding students who are experiencing intellectual, academic, social, behavioural and emotional challenges.
  • Interpret and discuss psychological assessment findings and recommendations with parents and school staff.
  • Assist parents and school staff with the implementation of recommendations.
  • Prepare or present assessment summaries to the Identification, Placement and Review Committee and provide score sheets to the Consulting Psychologist at Family Level IPRCs.
  • Serve as a committee member at School Level IPRCs, when required.
  • Provide referrals to community resources and liaise as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student health records in accordance with Board direction and professional standards, and complete caseload data collection as required by the Board.

Other Duties

  • Contribute to educators' professional development through in-service programming.
  • Keep up to date with relevant psychological and educational research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education :

The Psychoeducational Consultant will provide psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation services under direct clinical supervision by a Senior Psychologist or designate, per the requirements of the regulatory college.

Major Functions and Responsibilities :

  • Under the direct clinical supervision of the Senior Psychologist or designate, the Psychoeducational Consultant will :
  • Perform appropriate psychological assessments and work with their clinical supervisor to formulate a differential diagnosis when indicated through a cross-cultural, equity and inclusive lens.
  • Provide information to the Senior Psychologist who will communicate a diagnosis, when indicated, to parents / guardians or adult students.
  • Plan, execute and evaluate appropriate academic and therapeutic mental health prevention and intervention programs through a cross-cultural, equity and inclusive lens.
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams to provide crisis intervention for students appropriate for the role and expertise.

Indirect Student Support

  • Under direct clinical supervision of the Senior Psychologist or designate, the Psychoeducational Consultant will :
