We are seeking a skilled Communications Manager to join our team and drive our communications strategy forward. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing our communications initiatives, both internal and external.
You will play a key role in shaping our brand messaging, enhancing our external community communications, and ensuring consistency in our voice across all channels.
This role is based in our offices located in Toronto. The position reports to both the Vice President, Communications and Marketing and the Vice President, Ontario

Position Overview
The Manager, Communications, Ontario, works collaboratively with members of the CIJA communications team to develop and implement effective communications activities and campaigns designed to advance CIJA’s objectives with advocacy audiences and community stakeholders.
Primary Functions
- Strategic communications Plan, execute, and manage communications projects including integrated communications campaigns Develop key messages Ensure messages, products, and projects meet CIJA’s quality standards Identify opportunities to advance CIJA’s advocacy / community objectives Provide communications advice and support to Federation Executives
- GTA / Ontario Communications Lead Act as the primary liaison between the communications team and the Ontario team Work in close collaboration with the VP Ontario to develop and implement the communications strategy for Ontario Create and distribute stakeholder communications, with a focus on communication and collaboration with UJA of Greater Toronto
- National Issues Management and Crisis Communications Proactively identify and prepare for issues or events that could impact CIJA’s reputation and / or brand Contribute to the development and maintenance of the crisis communications strategy Provide strategic communications support to federation leadership and agency partners
- Special projects as deemed appropriate by supervisor
Required Skills
- 3+ years professional experience in communications, journalism, PR and or marketing
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Excellent communicator, both orally and in writing
- Problem-solver, resourceful and communicative
- Proficiency in MS Office and can effectively learn and use additional systems, including contact database software and cloud-based applications.
- Self-motivated, effectively prioritize deliverables and manage multiple tight deadline
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team both with local and national staff members
- Highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Knowledge of issues of concern to Canada’s Jewish Community
- Bilingualism an asset
- Flexibility work on nights and weekends may arise
