Job Description
As an integral member of the Perioperative and procedure areas, the Team Attendant performs direct and indirect patient care functions under the direction of a regulated healthcare provider, including : performing service functions in support of the Perioperative and Procedures Area .
- preparing the Perioperative and Procedures Area for surgery; stocking supplies; performing direct patient assistance functions;
- performing transport functions; performing environmental support and maintenance services within the Perioperative and Procedures Area and adjacent work settings;
performing cross-functional duties; performing other assigned tasks and duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned for the shift.
What must you have?
- Completion of a recognized program for personal support worker.
- Current Certificate of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire date
What else do you bring?
- Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language.
- Ability to stand, stoop, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, reach and climb without any physical discomfort on a continuous basis, transfer patients, with appropriate assistance.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (.
- Knowledge of procedures for handling contaminated materials.
- Ability to set-up and maintain the equipment, tools and instruments common to the Perioperative and Procedures Area environment, within scope of responsibility.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively as an active participant with others in assisting with the delivery of the care to surgical patients.
- May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
- Proven attendance record.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
