Our mission is to enhance security, develop alternative modes of transportation, ensure respect for the rights of the university community and protect the assets of the University and its community.
Position Purpose :
Responsible for the safety and security of the University community and its visitors on a 24-hour / 7-day basis. This position also requires the operation and monitoring of surveillance and security systems that support security staff on patrol while ensuring that all pertinent information is transmitted to all appropriate members of the community, civic authorities and the Protection Services team.
Work schedule : 40 hours per week with 12-hour shifts. Weekly rotation of 2 weeks of day shifts and 2 weeks of night shifts.
This includes weekends and holidays.
The position will remain posted until the role is filled.
In this role, your responsibilities will include :
- Receive and respond to all campuses emergency calls and describe safety instruction and appropriate responses.
- Monitor all alarm points and surveillance on all three main campuses, in all University owned buildings.
- Provide information, advice, assistance and superior customer service at all times to the University community and its visitors.
What you will bring :
- A Post-Secondary degree or diploma in security or other specialization relevant to the position or a combination of education, training and / or work experience.
- A minimum of one to three (1-3) years of related work experience.
- Certification for First Aid and CPR, Level C.
- Training and experience in emergency dispatching.
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and guidelines.
- Knowledge of (CBRNE) procedures and emergency protocols is an asset.
- Ability to multi task and work under pressure.
- Excellent leadership qualities, judgment and decision-making ability.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and relay details accurately.
- Takes initiative and is assertive when required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to listen, understand and respond appropriately.
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision and / or in a team environment.
- Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and is sensitive to cultural diversity of the community when dealing with students, faculty, employees, and visitors.

- Must be willing and able to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and overnights.
- Experience using Windows Office Suite and various other computer systems
- The candidate shall not have any convictions for which a pardon has not been granted and shall not have any record of offences related to the job.
- Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written).
