The Central YMCA Centre is one of ten YMCA Health and Fitness centres in the GTA, providing a wide variety of health, fitness and recreation programs for a vibrant community of over 10,000 members who represent the diversity of the Toronto community.
In this role, you will :
- Do heavy duty cleaning including shower areas, floors, walls and equipment
- Operate cleaning equipment including scrubbing machines, buffers and burnishes, pressure washer and vacuums
- Undertake cleaning operations as per instructions of the supervisor, which may include light duty cleaning as needed
- Adhere to all YMCA of Greater Toronto Policies and to Priority SAM cleaning and maintenance standards.
- Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHIMIS safety procedures and guidelines.
- Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
- Understand the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
You bring :
- Completion of high school education
- Minimum of three year hands-on heavy duty cleaning experience in a commercial establishment
- Knowledge of laundry operations preferred
- Ability to work in physically demanding environment
- Previous front-line, proven performance & relationship building in customer service
- Ability to work independently
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers;
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
