About the Role
In this opportunity as Lead Backend Software Engineer, you will :
- Ideate, design, implement, deploy, maintain, and support a set of related backend applications responsible for processing millions of legal documents.
- Play a key role in the complete software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation, CI / CD, DevOps deployment, maintenance, and support responsibilities.
- Lead initiatives for improving processes to achieve better outcomes across the team.
- Understand the products and customers’ needs, collaborating with product managers, scientists, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to deliver great software products.
- Continually adapt to changes in technology, markets, and processes.
- Lead and collaborate with others to get things done with minimal supervision.
- Lend support to client applications and users of the backend applications you work on.
About You :
You are a fit for the role of Lead Backend Software Engineer if your background includes :
Required Skills and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software development, hosting, and maintenance experience.
- Prior experience with ML Ops - hosting, monitoring, and maintaining AI / ML models in the cloud (SVMs, LLMs, etc).
- Hands on experience designing and implementing distributed systems using cloud services.
- Hands on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining applications to Azure cloud services.
- Hands on experience with Rust, Python, and SQL / Relational Databases.
- Prior experience leading other engineers (can be formal or informal engineering leadership).
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, unit testing, quality control practices, and incident management.
- Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to share knowledge across the team, provide status updates to leadership, mentor other engineers, and influence better thinking and practices across the team long term.
- Good creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team (including the ability to organize others) to complete varied objectives.
Preferred Skills and Experience :
- Experience with other languages, technologies, and cloud providers.
- Familiarity with the legal industry is also helpful but not essential.
