BASF’s Windsor production facility is seeking an aspiring professional like you to be responsible for supporting, facilitating, and implementing Environment Health Safety Security (EHSS) programs to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements (federal, provincial, local) for the Windsor, ON plant.
This position will see you grow your regulatory and technical expertise in Occupational Safety and Environmental. You will have the opportunity to interact with and influence site leadership, corporate functional leaders, elected officials, regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders / representatives.
As an EHS Specialist, you create chemistry by...
- Providing technical and regulatory knowledge to help ensure occupational health, safety, environmental and security compliance at the assigned location.
- Participating the sharing of programs, procedures, tools and successfully demonstrated practices within the Coatings Business Group and the North American EHS Community.
- Workimg with departments on identified EHS issues / recommendations / initiatives to ensure compliance to standards and to foster a positive EHS culture.
- Assisting with implementation of corporate standardized EHS policies and procedures. (Including but not limited to Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analysis, Management of Change, Incident Investigation, Ergonomics, WHMIS, HIRA-Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment).
- Participating in elements of management of change reviews consistent with the level of environmental, industrial hygiene and safety support needed.
- Supporting emergency response activities through drills, critiques, training and Emergency Response Team participation, as required.
- Conducting training and presentations on EHS topics.
- Participating in incident investigations and root causing.
- Supporting the JHSC and their related activities.
- Analyzing EHS-related data and prepare statistics / reports.
If you have...
- A Diploma or degree in Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Human Resources or related field required.
- Minimum 2 years of EHS experience in a chemical / manufacturing environment preferred.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional CRSP® or Technician CRST® would be an asset.
- Must be a self-starter and demonstrate strong sense of initiative.
- Strong computer skills (MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint and MS-Teams).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to interact with provincial and federal regulatory agencies.
- Strong collaboration, leadership, teamwork, interpersonal relations / communications, customer focus, influencing / impact skills required.
