Summary :
Reporting to the Director, Risk Management, this position is responsible for developing and implementing the elements that will support the Enterprise Risk Management program.
This position will be responsible for performing risk-related work on key initiatives, contributing to ongoing risk practices geared towards day-to-day business, and for providing independent oversight and challenge of management in all business and support areas, ensuring that adherence to the risk framework is obtained and adequate risk governance is achieved.
The successful candidate demonstrates a strong ability and experience in risk management standards and frameworks, with greater emphasis on practices associated with Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), such as onboarding new vendors, performing due diligence / risk assessments, monitoring of service level agreements and review of vendor contracts.
In addition, developing and monitoring key risk indicators, analyzing risk events, and developing and testing mitigation controls are key activities for this role.
Ability to work in small teams and independently with commitment and engagement. Advanced analytical skills, with attention to detail is critical for the success in the role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Facilitate the third-party onboarding process, as needed, during the sourcing event to ensure the proper risk and due diligence of a third-party is conducting prior to vendor selection.
- Conduct third-party risk assessments in alignment with the company policies and industry standards.
- Manage the completion of on-going risk management activities and report on instances of non-compliance or other areas of concern.
- Monitor the exception management activities performed by the business to ensure timely remediation or acceptance of identified risks or corrective action plans.
- Work with Legal, and Compliance to assist Business Lines with developing contracts that include designated third-party risk provisions.
- Create and maintain a centralized vendor inventory that may be reconciled with Finance (e.g., Accounts Payable) databases.
- Execute TPRM activities on behalf of the business and other risk specialist groups to ensure coordination of efforts in a timely manner.
- Generate key metrics, reports and vendor dashboards that document the health and stability of the TPRM program on a consistent basis for relevant stakeholders.
- Manage and administer TPRM procedures, tools, and corresponding support materials.
- Perform, if needed, on-site assessments of vendors to identify opportunities for improvement and validate the existence of control practices.
- Assist in the development of key risk indicators for top risks.
- Assist in the development and testing of mitigation plans.
- Assist with the analysis and documentation of risk events.
- Work with management to identify and update risk registers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
- 5+ of risk management, Third-Party Risk management experience an asset
- Post-secondary degree.
- Business Management.
- Risk Management Certification is an asset.
- Proven understanding of risk management principles and techniques, including excellent planning and organization skills, and the ability to deal with complex issues.
- Demonstrated effective project management skills. Must be able to proactively drive and manage multiple tasks and timelines independently and as a team, and lead / assist a vendor risk assessment from start to finish.
- Must have strong written communication skills with demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Demonstrated critical-thinking and ability to develop, share and adopt innovative approaches and solutions.
- Initiative-taker with ability to work independently.
- Trains new staff as needed.
- Detail & results oriented individual with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Good understanding of the mutual fund and securities industry.
