POSITION OVERVIEW : The successful candidate will report to the Superintendent, Special Education Services. The Itinerant Teacher for Deaf / Hard of Hearing will be responsible for assessment and support of students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, collaboration with the Educational Audiologist to support implementation and use of equipment and technology, supporting educators and paraprofessionals in understanding and accommodating needs of students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing to promote student success and well-being.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Knowledge of the Ontario Curricula and the flexibility / ability to work within a range of grade areas Knowledge of Alternative Curricula for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, i.
e. language development, articulation, and auditory skills development Knowledge of and experience in working with personal and classroom amplification systems Demonstrated successful classroom teaching experience, an asset Successful experience when dealing with students with multiple exceptionalities, an asset Strong interpersonal skills when dealing with parents and professionals Strong organizational and record keeping skills Certification as a Certified Language and Speech Learning Specialist Auditory Verbal Educator (Cert.
