The School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, in collaboration with the Providence Health Care invite applications for a full-time Tenure Track Assistant Professor who will also hold the newly established Providence Health Care / UBC Professorship in Indigenous Cultural Safety and Nursing.

We seek an early career nurse researcher focused on advancing Indigenous Cultural Safety to work in full partnership with both nursing and Indigenous wellness leadership at Providence Health Care (PHC).

As a nurse with a research doctorate, the Professor in Indigenous Cultural Safety and Nursing will be a clinician scientist actively contributing to systems transformation and leading a program of research that contributes to future advances and improvements in person-centred care for Indigenous peoples and families.

The anticipated start date is January 1, 2025, or as soon as feasible thereafter.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent program of research focused on advancing Indigenous Cultural Safety in Nursing.

They will work with colleagues across PHC and beyond to ensure that advances developed through their research will be applied to nursing and interprofessional practices throughout PHC sites and provincial and national health systems.

In addition to their research activities, the successful candidate will contribute to teaching, mentorship, and clinical services aligned with the focus of the Professorship.

They will also contribute to strengthening the relationship between PHC and UBC School of Nursing, and to advancing the leadership of the two organizations to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and Nursing.

The successful candidate will be appointed as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at UBC. Successful applicants will have practice experience in nursing, must have earned or nearly completed a PhD in nursing or a related discipline, and be registered or eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.

Successful applicants must have demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching. The applicant’s program of research should be sustainable with the potential to be scaled and spread across Canada, and relevant to current health practice and policy and the future of Canadian health care.

Salary will be commensurate with level of educational preparation and experience. The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 / year to $135,000 / year.
