Riyo Games are wanting to add a Game Programmer to their ranks as they craft a retro-infused JRPG title inspired by Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy.
As a Game Programmer at Riyo Games you be part of a veteran team that includes developers who have worked on iconic titles such as Xenoblade Chronicles, Legend of Mana, and more.
You'll join a collaborative team who have built a welcoming and inclusive workplace that appreciates and values diversity and inclusivity with opportunities to contribute to the game's creative design and take ownership of features.
You will play a versatile and technical role, contributing to multiple areas of game development, from gameplay systems, to tools, and engine related features.
You will be responsible for creating new mechanics and systems and bringing them to a high level of polish and work closely with Designers to create compelling gameplay experiences, implement new content and collaborate closely within a cross-discipline team to pull different elements of the game together.
Riyo Games was created by two people's love of JRPGs who had a dream to create JRPGs that awaken cherished childhood memories.
The game Riyo are creating, Threads of Time, is a JRPG where you get to travel from the prehistoric era through to the end of time.

This role can be worked remotely from within two of Canada's major provinces, Ontario or Quebec.
Your responsibilities...
- Architect, plan, and implement new game features and systems
- Provide development strategies and time estimates for the various initiatives
- Contribute and apply clear coding best practices
- Anticipate, identify, and articulate technical and developmental risks and obstacles, and generate solutions
- Ensure the creation of strong technical documentation
- Write efficient and maintainable code
The skills and experience you'll bring to the role...
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science or equivalent
- 3 or more years of professional game development experience
- Strong ability in C++
- Strong understanding of Unreal Engine
- Experience in developing gameplay, tools and / or engine systems
- High degree of self-motivation and resourcefulness in all areas of engineering
- Well-versed in design patterns and software engineering principles
- Excellent communication and listening skills, including demonstrated patience and compassion for teammates
- Experience with commonly used development tools such as Jira and Perforce
- Genuine passion for making and playing video games
- Resident of Ontario or Quebec, Canada
Desirable but not essential...
- Shipped a title using Unreal Engine 4
- Experience working on console platforms
- Experience with performance profiling and analysis
- A love of JRPGs
