Maintenance Technician/Apprentice

Position Description :

• All Maintenance personnel report to a facility Maintenance Supervisor
• Perform mechanical preventative maintenance of equipment and facility
• Utilize CMMS software to document and maintain details of work orders
• Reports Maintenance Inventory to Maintenance Supervisor
• Perform mechanical preventative maintenance of equipment and facility
• Responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment to maximize operating reliability (ie : CNC Machines, Lasers, Presses, and overhead cranes,)
• Perform maintenance on all equipment as required
• Possess troubleshooting and diagnosing skills for both mechanical and electrical issues
• Overtime or off-hours’ may be required on occasion
• Must have attention to detail, immediate deadlines, and be able to follow written and verbal instructions
• Must be capable of working in a team environment and / or solely to achieve effective goal

Qualifications :

• Industrial Mechanical experience is an asset
• Alternate skilled trades will be considered
• Skillfully and efficiently able to maintain and repair production / manufacturing equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Strong analytical, organizational, ,problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments and to complete the work safely
• Excellent safety skills required (ie : lockout / tag-out safety procedures, working with electricity, etc)
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment or individually
• Good physical capability and a can do attitude is a definite asset

Work Conditions :

This is a physical position that requires :

• Continuous standing for extended periods of time.
• Some heavy lifting, carrying, and handling of objects.
• Regular use of hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, bending / stretching, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, walking, pushing / pulling.
• Repetitive motion and other job-specific requirements.
• Precise hand / finger movements.
• Physical Environment : Regular exposure to factors such as temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, loud noise, and dusty environments.
• Sensory Attention : Need to give close attention to hearing or seeing to work surroundings. Must be able to handle exposure to different smells that may occur in the workplace.
• Must be able to wear prescribed PPE that the company requires safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots / shoes respiratory protection (depending upon job), etc.
• Safety Sensitive Position : This position is a safety-sensitive position and if it is not performed in a safe manner, can cause direct and significant damage to property, and / or injury to the employee and others around them.

Requirements :

• Proof of Secondary School Diploma if requested
• A valid driver’s license or transportation is required, as this position is located in Cathcart, and is not on a public bus route
• Personal tool inventory for daily use
