The Opportunity
This is a high visibility role that will work closely with the Canadian Business Leadership team. The Director, Data, Reporting and Insights will be a senior member of the Canada Data Office.
The incumbent will garner in-depth knowledge of data strategies, challenges and priorities and act as a bridge to connect business needs with accelerated data capabilities and technology innovation.
Responsibilities
- Work with business and technology leadership to provide reports, analytical insights and decision support on a timely manner, within agreed upon service levels
- In collaboration with architecture, design, document and implement BI self service capabilities within the Microsoft Azure technology stack;
whilst also overseeing the automation of data pipelines for data provisioning
- In collaboration with Data Governance, ensure critical business data is owned, defined, catalogued and granted access with oversight
- Stand up automated processes to iteratively report on business performance
- Develop interactive dashboard and reports, while carrying out ad-hoc analyses
- Champion cases for technology investments when required
- Inspire an always learning approach; ensure that skills training and standard methodologies are embedded in the team’s culture
- Distill sophisticated issues into effective data stories with visualization

What we are looking for
- Ability to oversee the building of the BI / analytics infrastructure including data management / pipeline building process (data exploration, curation, and pipeline automation) experience working with Azure tech stack, Synapse, Databricks, preferred)
- Solid foundation in statistics and ability to effectively conduct multivariate analysis
- Experience working with business intelligence systems, dashboard reporting, and analytical reporting
- Ability to work with and integrate complex datasets; Excellent knowledge of relational database models.
- Solid ability to program using Python and SQL, experience using related programming languages and analysis tools (e.g.
R, PySpark), and related technical subject areas
- Knowledge of software development standard methodologies (e.g. Git, DevOps, Agile)
- Very strong SQL, data modelling and visualization skills, and experience using reporting tools (solid experience with Power BI preferred)
- Good analytical skills, a precise eye for detail, and an ability to connect the dots
- Excellent partner management and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science. An advanced degree in data and management analytics is strongly preferred.

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
Toronto, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between
$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education / training.
