  • Demonstrated interpersonal / communicationskills
  • Current certification in NonViolentCrisis Intervention (NVCI) and Gentle Persuasion Approaches toDementia Care (GPA) are assets
  • Excellentteamwork and effective communicationskills.
  • Strong organizational andtimemanagement skills.
  • Capable of workingefficiently in a fastpaced environment.
  • Abilityto work well independently and underpressure.
  • High interpersonal and customerservice skills.
  • Experience in medicationadministration an asset.

  • Demonstrated positive workrecord and good attendance record.
  • SatisfactoryCriminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required(dated within 6 months of employment start date).

Bilingualism (English / French) isconsidered an asset.

Tasks &Responsibilities :

  • Follow all Health Sciences Northpolicies procedures andprotocols.
  • Following the designatedcare plan observing and reporting any substantial findings and / orchanges in patient / resident / clients behavior to the appropriateregistered member of the healthcareteam.
  • Working under the supervisionof a Registered Healthcare Professional such as a Registered Nurse(RN) or a Registered Practical Nurse(RPN)
  • Performing tasks delegated to them (onlyif they are trained to perform the delegatedtask)
  • Observeand report changes in residents / tenants. Document such changes inthe resident / tenant chart according to facility policy whilemaintaining confidentiality.
  • Assess residentsand tenants health status by recognizing signs and symptoms andreport to the Nursing Supervisor or Administrator asnecessary.
  • Provide supportive care inaccordance with established HSN policies and physiciansorders.
  • Work as a vital andcontributing member of a team with facilitypersonnel.
  • Assist in meeting physicalemotional and psychological needs of residents asdirected.
  • Participate in staffdevelopment safety quality assurance environmental and infectioncontrol programs.
  • Deal courteouslyand respectfully with staff residents / tenants resident / tenantfamilies and visitors.
  • Complete dailyweekly and monthly duties as perpolicy.
  • Serve in the dining room atmealtimes as necessary.
  • Participatein Fire Safety and Mock Disasterprocedures.
  • Complete documentation asappropriate as per facility policies andguidelines.
  • Answer emergencycalls.
  • Have knowledge of and adhereto facility and policies andprocedures.
  • Report all accidents orincidents involved residents tenants families visitors andpersonnel to the Nurse and / or Manager and complete the appropriateincident report.
  • Perform monthlyblood pressures and weights.
  • Teach good healthhabits to residents and tenants.
  • Assistresidents with ambulation whennecessary.
  • Provide emergency first aid / careuntil appropriate medical care isavailable.
  • Assist with the moving in and movingout of residents when required.
  • Arrive 15minutes early to obtain and review reports daily before each shift;keep updated with important residentinformation.
  • Perform the daily housekeepingtasks as per policy and procedure.
  • Completefacility laundry as per policy andprocedure.
  • Have a full understanding of andpractice Infection Prevention and Controlpolicies.
  • Work collaboratively and promotepositive team spirit within thedepartment.
  • Maintains good attendance recordaccording to company policy.
  • Senior staff toassist in the orientation and training of newemployees.
  • Attends departmental meetingsinservices and other necessary trainingsessions.
  • Perform other duties that arenecessary and appropriate which may be assigned by the Nurse andManager.
