Financial Reporting Analyst

About the Client

Our client is looking for a Financial Reporting Analyst for 6 month opportunity.

This position's main activities includes the preparation of the periodic internal financial statements, accounting policy and yearly external statements.

About the Opportunity

• Prepare reports, analysis and information required by various stakeholders including the company’s business partners, internal auditors and the provincial auditors for the year end audit.
• Support periodic financial statement reporting for the management team and analyze the impact of the results on the organization.
• Support and coordinate the implementation of accounting policies, primarily related to specific areas of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Research on latest policy developments and prepare IFRS position papers related to future accounting changes.
• Provide strong technical leadership and guidance to department staff members and project teams to improve processes and enhanced financial reporting controls.
• Research and recommend improvements in reporting structure and requirements in accordance with IFRS and company’s Future State Modernization (FSM) project.
• Work on various ad hoc projects and operational activities, including participating in system upgrades, testing, and enhancements involving Finance related systems.
• Proficient in Excel and Access, Oracle and / or other ERP systems.
• Strong Financial modelling skills and knowledge working with financial reporting systems, in support of periodic commentary for management decision support.
• Ability to handle many tasks and competing priorities with proficiency to employ financial analysis, reporting techniques and always be best in class.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with proven track record to effectively work in a team environment.
• Ability to quickly adapt to change and build and sustain business relationships.
• A fast-paced self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results under tight timelines.

About You

• Canadian Professional Accounting designation CPA, CA is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with and applying IFRS / IASs.
• Experience with compliance and internal controls (i.e., ICFR). External reporting experience in the retail field, with the ability to draft external financial statement in accordance with IFRS standards.
