A Child and Youth Worker (CYW) works as a member of the Mental Health and Well-Being team at the school level. Our c asual CYW staff work on an on-call basis, filling in for school CYW staff on a short term or long-term basis as required.

  • WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT : To support the social, emotional and / or behavioural well-being of students; Provide intervention strategies and coordinate appropriate community referrals;
  • By implementing a team approach, students will be supported in a professional and confidential manner. WHAT YOU BRING : Completion of a three-year, post-secondary diploma in a Child and Youth Care program or equivalent;
  • Up to three months related employment or volunteer experience with children; First aid, CPR, and intervention strategies;
  • Team-oriented person with well-developed interpersonal skills; Knowledge of community agencies and organizations; Working understanding of related hardware and software;

In addition, may be called upon to perform other duties / responsibilities comparable to the above as the above; describes only the typical primary features of this position.

LOCATIONS : Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction. HOURS : Varies as needed on a casual on call basis for long-term placements.
