About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Specialist with strong expertise in D&O and Crime insurance to join our Corporate Specialist Lines team.
This is a national role and you have the opportunity to work out of any location in Canada.
What you’ll do here :
Identify and elevate coverage issues and emerging trends that have an impact on profitability
Provide research, development and project management support on strategic corporate Specialty Lines projects.
Provide technical support and guidance to ensure a consistent application of corporate guidelines, quality and timely service, as well as effective control of insurance risks.
Review, approve, modify or decline referrals that are made on accounts beyond the authorities of our underwriting teams.
Conduct business and underwriting due diligence including regulatory and compliance research.
Collaborate with stakeholders on regulatory filings and submissions to Insurance Regulators
Participate in regulatory and industry meetings.
Participate in audits of accounts written by Specialty Solutions for quality control purposes. Provide recommendations and report on the findings
Develop, review and update technical policy wording and manuals, as required.
Establish and maintain productive business relationships with internal departments and external partners.
Manage day-to-day underwriting activities of strategic partnerships.
Contribute to the development of new products and corporate guidelines to effectively control insurance risks and positively impact profitability.
Research, implement and manage technology-based solutions for pricing and underwriting.
Support growth and profitability analysis.
Assist with product approval and strategic account review process.
What you bring to the table :
University degree / College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
CIP or FCIP designation, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
Must have good experience in underwriting various types of D&O and Crime insurance - Public, Private and Not for Profit entities.
Can handle multiple, competing priorities and projects.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead, initiate, monitor and close projects.
Can make decisions in time sensitive situations, address complex problems, provide recommended course of action and take calculated risks.
Highly organized, with the ability to work towards goals while adapting to change in a fast paced environment
Strong communication skills, including the ability to persuade as well as challenge others
Can deal effectively and respectfully with individuals at all levels of the organization
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with national departmental teams
Effective analytical, negotiating and decision-making skills
Can work well under tight deadlines, including organizational and time management skills
High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity :
$120,400.00 - $180,600.00
