75 - $72,769.06 Application Deadline : November 28, 2024 by 11 : 59 pm Program Overview Youth Justice Program Turning Point Youth Services (TPYS) is an accredited, non-profit agency serving youth (12 to 24 years of age) and their families in the east end of Toronto.

Turning Point’s mission is to empower youth to make positive change, an to accomplish this, it offers a continuum of services for youth and their families with a focus on mental health, housing / sheltering, and youth justice.

Turning Point Youth Services and WoodGreen Community Services announced on July 2, 2024 the integration of the two organizations.

The combination of these two agencies will enable a more effective and integrated approach to the provision of comprehensive support services for youth in the GTA.

Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals, counselling staff are trained and supported to provide effective mental health individual and family counselling services that are trauma-informed, inclusive, equitable, and responsive.

What You Will Do Promote a culturally safe and therapeutic environment and establish therapeutic relationships with clients consistent with the Agency Mission, Vision and Values.

Using strength based and trauma informed approaches provide in person assessment and evidence informed mental health counselling services in the youth / family home and in the community.

Participation and involvement with multi / inter disciplinary team. Service Coordination and Case management Referral to community services.

Regular recording and maintenance of records as per agency standards and in accordance with privacy policies, legislation and required timeframes.

Accurate and consistent entry of client activities into client information system Promote an environment of inclusion that promotes equity and respects diversity.

Active Participation actively in team meetings. Participate in ongoing training and supervision sessions on a regular basis.

Support and training of eligible student interns, if interested. Perform other duties as assigned What You Bring to the Team Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counselling.

Please note that we also welcome applications from internationally trained professionals who have completed the Bridge to Registration and Employment in Mental Health program (BREM).

Post-graduate experience working in the mental health sector, ideally with youth (up to age 18) would be an asset. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in providing evidence and trauma informed individual and family counselling (e.

g. Cognitive Behavior Treatment, Dialectical Behavior Treatment, Family Therapy, Emotionally Focused Skills Training, and Motivational Interviewing).

Demonstrated ability to develop strength based therapeutic relationships with at risk youth. Sensitivity and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.

Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to exercise professionalism and sound judgement in conflictual and crisis situations Strong case management, administrative and organizational skills.

Knowledge of relevant community resources and strong networking skills Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and communication skills (verbal and written) Valid First Aid / CPR certification;

completion of required crisis intervention training Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training Registration and good standing with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and / or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario What Will Set You Apart Appreciation of the importance of engaging youth and families from a strength-based relationship-based approach.

Sensitivity to, and ability to work with, a diverse client and staff group. Ability to demonstrate an anti-oppression approach to practice and work from a client-centered, anti-racism, harm reduction, and trauma informed approach is required.

Demonstrate knowledge of issues affecting marginalized communities, policies, legislation, programs, and other issues related to scope of practice and social determinants of health.

Experience working with diverse and marginalized communities, including ethno-cultural and religious groups, LGBTQSS+ youth and youth adults, those impacted by poverty and those involved in youth justice.
