Security Services are often the first image of the organization. Security’s primary function is to provide total risk management to the facility, as a first responder to attend and lead most emergency situations, which includes leading all potentially violent and / or violent situations within the organization.
Security works in collaboration with Occupational Health and Human Resources to deliver the Workplace Violence & Harassment Program, to include program development, education & training, as well as the investigation and follow up of workplace violence & harassment incidents.
As the Security Officer you provide a healthy, safe environment for all persons accessing RVH. Deal with all violent / potentially violent clients (over 4000 per year).
Act as the 'first responder' to all emergency situations, taking control of the scene and leading the coordination of the emergency.
The Security Officer provides risk mitigation for organization through documentation and investigation. Also responsible for heliport response and maintenance, Lost & Found, monitoring access control / CCTV / alarms, and overall facility risk management from a security / risk perspective and asset control.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements :
- Minimum Grade 12 education and a Post-Secondary School Diploma, Law and Security or graduate of a recognized Police Training facility preferred
- Maintains a valid Security Guard License
- Previous experience in dealing with the general public, security systems, training and healthcare infrastructure an asset

- Are be physically fit, personable, and neat in appearance and possess good communications skills
- Have the ability to facilitate physical intervention strategies in violent situations, display exemplary leadership, relay expertise in security and emergency planning and response and act as an ambassador for RVH
- Possess exceptional verbal de-escalation techniques, certification in Non Violent Crisis Intervention an asset
- Provide a healthy, safe environment for the RVH staff, patients and visitors
